Hot rods, sun and fun is coming to Old Town Sherwood Saturday June 12th, 2010 between the hours of 8AM and 4PM along with an estimated 600 beautiful cars and 20,000 people. And in celebration of the 20th anniversary Cruisin Sherwood Car Show, you can expect to see some very special attractions this year including a monster truck demonstration, dunk tank, burn out, huge kid zone and several blocks of attractions the whole family will enjoy.
As I sit here for a moment to write this, the Chamber of Commerce crew, local volunteers and array of vendors are setting up their stations to transform all of Old Town into this much anticipated event. It’s quite a sight really – the energy is electric.
Also a wife of a hot rod enthusiast who enjoys his toys (1972 Chevy Nova and 1967 Chevy truck both built by Jason’s late father also known as “Grandpa Hot Rod”) our family and three boys look forward to this event every single year. For 3 generations hot rods have been a core part of our family roots which is why as a tribute to “Grandpa Hot Rod”, coupled with our commitment to making a difference in the community we love, live, work, play and raise our children in we’re excited to be a sponsor of this huge Sherwood event.
Who ever would have thought that today we’d be the proud owner of not one, but two hot rods (a classic and a custom) both built by Harold M. Gardner. With a “divine” story behind how this truck found its way back to our family, we couldn’t agree more that the truck is simply special. Custom built for a pro drag boat racer and world record holder, our 1967 Chevy truck comes complete with a great history and eventful future.
With no better time than the 20th anniversary Cruisin’ Sherwood Car Show, the Gardner Family will have it on display at the corner of Railroad and Pine Street. You can’t miss it – with a huge tent, banner and now themed “Stuff the Truck”, our family is proud to be dedicating it to the Sherwood community to provide “truck loads of hope” to local fundraisers, charities, benefits and drives. We will also be supporting the Sherwood Booster Club at our booth to help them sell truck loads of spirit items and Bowmen Bucks to help raise funds for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. Make sure to swing by the “Stuff the Truck” booth to check it out, snap some photos, show your Bowmen pride and enter to win some awesome gifts from The Gardner Team.
To learn more about “Stuff the Truck” and how it can help you, it will soon be viewable online at www.StufftheTruck.org – after its official debut at the show, the website will be made public with more information and photos.
