Last Thursday our family headed to Hillsboro to watch the Sherwood Bowmen at the league dual match held at Liberty High School.  It was an exciting night as we ended the season with a 45-31 win over Liberty.  Our oldest son, on the freshman JV team was undefeated that night and came home with a NWOC Novice District Tournament 2010 Championship Award.  (We came home both proud Bowmen fans and proud parents!)

This week the Sherwood Bowmen Varsity Wrestling team has been gearing up for the NWOC District Tournament which will be held this Friday and Saturday at Century High School in Hillsboro.  The action on Friday starts at 2:30 p.m. and on Saturday, wrestling begins at 10:00 a.m. with semifinal bouts.  The championship finals are set for 7:00 p.m.

To advance to the Class 5A State Tournament, the top 3 finishers in each weight class at District with proceed.  It will  be held Feb. 25-27th at the Portland’s Memorial Coliseum.

Our son, although a Freshman will also be among them.  He’s earned the opportunity to wrestle at Varsity Districts as well - he’s honored to have this amazing opportunity to say the least and to say he’s “excited” about this weekend is almost an understatement.  The energy that came home with us from last Thrusday’s District Tournament has created a “buzz” in our house that you can almost see and hear.  We’re looking forward to seeing him take it to the mat with his team tomorrow.
