Quick tips to spice up your kitchen & dining decor

Quick tips to spice up your kitchen & dining decor

It’s a fact, the kitchen is one of the most important places in your home and with that it’s also the most visited part of your home too.  When you put it in perspective, you need to go to the kitchen a number of times in a day in order to prepare food, grab a drink or wash your hands… It’s routine in ones daily schedule.  Most kitchens in today’s newer home designs have more room for people to gather with island seating, nooks and open access to great rooms – all the more reason to celebrate your home with kitchen and dining decor that compliments the design.  And if you’re thinking about selling your home, it’s a beauty contest out there… Staging is a key sweeping buyers off their feet!

Start with a basic white dishes

Basic white dishes adds a crispness to a table setting, yet at the same time a sense of elegance and romance too.  Serving as the most versatile solution, your set of white can graciously carry you through any event, holiday or season.  Want to add a splash of color?  Consider using salad plates for some chic appeal.

Table runners & place mats set the backdrop

Another way you can set the mood for your theme or add a simple pop of color is by using table runners and place mats.  They come in all shapes and sizes to keep your dining decor diverse – and these wonderful accents that add flair and protection to your tabletops are so very easy to make too!  Don’t forget the final touch… Centerpieces adds a tons to a table!  Think beyond the vase full of flowers and great creative, this is the focal point and statement of your  island, dining room or breakfast nook table.  And here’s a great tip, always use un-scented candles at the dinning room table :)

Presentation is everything

Presentation is everything and to make clean up and storage simpler, busy moms and everyone for that matter should know about Bean Pots!  Not only to they add to your kitchen counter and tabletop decor, they’re microwave, dishwasher and oven safe too.  You can also cook an entire meal in a Bean Pot, so it’s a great assistant to saving you time and keeping the kitchen tidy.  Here you have it, decor that makes it easy to prepare side dishes or meals everyday!   Great for dinner parties in or on the go, because Bean Pots keep food warm for 2-3 hours and that my friends makes this tip even more tasty!

Don’t forget the walls

We say time again, painting a space or just an accent wall is a dramatic, inexpensive way to change the look of any room.  More than anything what your after is that “focal point” effect so consider some wall art that represents you.  Draw the eye around the room by pulling in colors from the decor found on your newly set table and counter tops.  This will compliment and complete your look.  Enjoy your new savory space!

As you can see we’re very excited to roll out the launch of our 4th generation www.TheGardnerTeam.net website which we should see live anytime in March.  The transition should feel seamless, as you’ll find the appearance will be very much the same.  It’s just new and improved, feature packed and on a more dynamic platform that we’ll have the flexibility to grow with.  This concept is one we’ve been working on for a very long time now, in fact, we contacted the company who’s building our site in September of 2008 about designing us a new blog to replace our old one… After a long process of consideration, we decided to go for something even bigger!!  A fully custom solution that we have FULL control over with everything under one roof.  And something that makes it even more exciting is that the company we’re working with is equally excited about this unique project they’ve put so much creativity in to build – and there’s nothing better than great service from people who take great pride in their work :)

Steps to Beautify Your Bathroom

Steps to Beautify Your Bathroom…

Believe it or not, your bathroom is one of the most important places to decorate in the home.  And because the furniture least likely needs changing, befriends your budget.

Add  dramatic change with color

Paint color and treatments are one of the most dramatic ways to change the look.   It’s important to choose the right wall color for your bathroom.  Bathrooms and powder rooms very in size and feature different use of materials and color tones in the flooring, cabinetry and countertops.  Some bathrooms have windows or a skylight while others don’t.  These are all factors in choosing the right color to best fit your space.  If your walls could talk, what would they be saying to you?   Are you going for a lively and stimulating, quiet and neutral or calm and relaxed?  The colors you choose play a large part in the overall statement your room conveys which is why color alone can pack a dramatic punch.

Make the space with a mirror

mirror is the focal point of the bathroom.  It’s the first thing your guest notice about your bathroom and the last thing they are looking at.  A pretty mirror can add that designer touch and is often a good place start with your bathroom design.  To add interest around the room you can hang art work or use quotes or signs on the wall.

Live large in small spaces

Extra storage is always great to have, it can make a small bathroom feel spacious.  This can be accomplished with style by adding cabinets, decorative shelving, baskets and towel hooks.

It’s important to remember that the bathroom is also the only place where your guests are alone.   Beautify your bathroom and bedazzle your guests, and they just may spend more time admiring your space when they could otherwise be curious about whats in the medicine or behind the shower curtain :)
